Fivetran Integration
Introduction
You can use Fivetran to automatically sync your Refiner survey data to your data warehouse or analytics stack.
The Refiner connector allows you to replicate survey responses, user attributes, rating reports, as well as survey metadata from Refiner into your destination supported by Fivetran (such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks).
Once connected, Fivetran will continuously extract data from your Refiner account and load it into your data warehouse. This allows your data team to combine survey insights with product analytics, CRM data, billing data, or any other data stored in your warehouse.
How the Integration Works
The integration is configured entirely inside your Fivetran account.
After adding Refiner as a connector, Fivetran will request a Refiner API key. This API key can be found inside Refiner under Integrations → Fivetran.
Once the connection is established, Fivetran automatically performs an initial historical sync and then keeps the dataset up to date with regular incremental updates.
All schema management and data ingestion is handled by Fivetran.
Setting Up the Integration
To start the integration, log in to your Fivetran dashboard and create a new connector. When choosing a source, select Refiner and follow the setup wizard.
During the configuration process, Fivetran will ask for your Refiner API key.
To retrieve it:
- Log in to Refiner
- Navigate to Integrations → Fivetran
- Copy your API Key
- Paste the key into the Fivetran connector configuration
Once the API key is provided, Fivetran will verify the connection and begin the initial data sync.
For detailed setup instructions, refer to the official setup guide.
Data Synced by the Connector
The Refiner connector extracts survey-related data and loads it into your data warehouse using a structured schema. This allows teams to analyze customer feedback alongside other company data.
The following types of data can be synced from Refiner:
- Survey responses – Individual responses submitted by users, including timestamps, completion status, and associated survey information.
- NPS, CSAT, Rating reports – aggregated reporting data for your NPS, CSAT and Ratings survey campaigns similar to the ones provided through our Rest API.
- Surveys – Metadata about your surveys, including survey names, IDs, status, creation timestamps, and configuration details.
- Contacts – User identifiers and associated metadata captured in Refiner.
This dataset allows teams to perform analyses such as:
- NPS or CSAT trends across customer segments
- Feedback analysis by plan, company size, or user role
- Correlating survey responses with product usage data
- Building dashboards that combine customer feedback with business metrics
Fivetran automatically handles incremental updates so that new survey responses and updated user attributes are regularly synced to your warehouse.
Data Schema
Fivetran automatically creates and maintains the destination schema for the Refiner connector in your warehouse. Each data object is stored in its own table, with relationships that allow responses, questions, and users to be joined together for analysis.
