Survey Delivery Methods
The Delivery Method determines where and how your survey is presented to users.
When creating a survey in Refiner, you first choose a Delivery Method and then select a Survey Template. Each survey can use only one Delivery Method at a time.

Available Delivery Methods
Refiner supports five Delivery Methods.
Web App Surveys
Display surveys directly inside your web application or website.
Web App Surveys are part of Refiner’s flagship In-App Survey offering. They are ideal for collecting contextual feedback while users are actively using your product and can be targeted based on user data, behavior, events, page visits, and previous survey interactions.

Mobile App Surveys
Display surveys directly inside your mobile application.
Refiner supports iOS, Android, React Native, and Flutter. Mobile App Surveys provide the same contextual approach as Web App Surveys and can be triggered based on user data, events, and screen visits.

Survey Pages
Create a hosted survey with a unique URL that you can share with your audience.
Survey Pages are useful when respondents are outside your application, for example churned customers, prospects, or research participants.

Email Surveys
Collect feedback through Email Surveys sent with your existing Email Service Provider.
The first survey question is displayed inside the email. When a recipient selects an answer, Refiner records it and opens the remaining survey on a hosted Survey Page.

Embed Surveys
Render a survey directly inside a page of your website or web application with Embed Surveys.
Unlike an In-App Survey overlay, an Embed Survey becomes part of the surrounding page content.

In-App Surveys are our flagship
Web App Surveys and Mobile App Surveys together form Refiner’s In-App Survey offering.
They are our flagship Delivery Method and usually the best choice when you want to collect feedback from users while they are actively using your product.
Other Delivery Methods are useful when you need to reach users outside the product, share a standalone survey link, or place a survey permanently inside a page.
Delivery Method specific options
The survey questions and general design work similarly across Delivery Methods, but some configuration options depend on how the survey is delivered.
In-App Surveys include targeting options such as Target Audience and Launch Trigger. Survey Pages provide a shareable survey link. Email Surveys and Embed Surveys provide delivery-specific embed code and configuration options.
Refer to the dedicated documentation for each Delivery Method for more details.
Change the Delivery Method
You can change the Delivery Method of an existing survey from the Survey Editor.
The survey questions, question identifiers, and general configuration remain intact, while settings specific to the previous Delivery Method may be replaced by options for the new one.
This is especially useful when duplicating a survey. For example, you can duplicate a Web App Survey, change the copy to an Email Survey, and reuse the same questionnaire through another channel.
Each survey can have only one Delivery Method at a time. If you want to use the same questionnaire through multiple Delivery Methods simultaneously, create a separate survey for each one.
